Snow soccer

December 21st, 2010 by Minette
As has most of the nation were covered in the white fluffy stuff, and looking towards a White Christmas, I want you to have some fun today in the snow!  If you're lucky, to live in the South (boy, I never thought I would miss it!) or you don't have any snow, grab hold of a ball and head outside with your dog!
Take a large ball, basketball, football or even an indestructible ball can be used.  I like collecting balls that are indestructible because you can not easily destroy them. but if you have an older dog, I recommend something softer!
Grab the ball and head outside, look, if you are away from your dog keep kicking it on the ground and through his legs!  If you have a smaller dog, roll it gently towards him.  Come with a goal line and have fun together!  Make sure not to  hurt, but get out there and burn some of those cookie calories off and bond with your dog!
This is a great game for children and dogs, as long as both are respectful of the other and have adult supervision!

Support for our troops and their furry family!

Animals make all a big difference for us!
Can you imagine leaving your furry best friend or even take him to an animal shelter, because you have to move on to?  If you're like me, you would be mentally even now that ensuring would never happen!  In most cases I would almost rather be to protect homeless dog-less or my pets!
But what about our military personnel?  What happens if you orders leave the country, our freedoms to defend overseas?  Some people are numb and say that individuals in the military pets, especially single adults with no family, caring for your pets own should not.  But what is with divorced service members had, that, once an infrastructure for the support, that animal?
I can certainly understand the need to share your life with a pet. I also understand that everyone's conditions are unique and individually should be evaluated before the enormous responsibility of an animal.
Animals are not disposable!  Unfortunately we live in a world of single animals, and there are too many animals for good homes.  I often wish pets like diamonds, a resource that is treated like a treasure and not garbage.  Pets should only to be entered as a lifetime commitment!  But our military is often willing to pay for a lifetime of pets.
You have no room for another dog? Take a cat or a Pocket pet!
Unfortunately, sometimes duty calls our service men and women are called to duty overseas, and although you don't want to leave your pets, you are forced to do so.  What happens to your pets?  Hopefully you have family or friends nearby, you care about.  But what, if you have any resources for your furry family care?  Your pets are often abandoned, animal shelters and rescues, where some are thought out, but some are simply euthanized due to lack of space.  These are not pets with behavior problems or animals are unloved!  Either way, once loving owners probably never again you will see.
There are organizations that have appeared recently in the country that offer include dogs and cats and other animals, service members to promote!
I know and dozens of members of the military, and I can't imagine love, the war aggravated the stress and grief, the animal by the stress need to lose on your mental stability.  Every day make those who are fighting some grace and gratitude for our freedom and our families.  On a personal note, my boyfriend's Golden Retriever, was a pet much loved family euthanized, while he was served at sea our country!  He is still devastated, because it was nothing about the irresponsibility of the person he could maintain the trusted for his pet and even found not until it was too late.   This is a tragedy that can be avoided!
If you have lost an animal, or if you spare any room in your House have, I urge you, your heart and your home, who love to open
PET, until you return home and reunited can be a service member.  Can you imagine to leave to your pet?  You can think of gratitude that would you, for someone who feel yourself and your family to your family member voluntarily to worry?  There are dogs and cats and iguanas, birds, ferrets, rabbits, just about any kind of pet imaginable to promote.
I'll provide a few links to some organizations, you can research, but you can also do a Web search or apply to extend your local military base and a hand of love for our service members.  You don't even need an organization you this gift of love Institute to help!  But make a plan and join a contract associate American humane has http://www.americanhumane.org/protecting-animals/adoption-pet-care/issues-information/fostering-military-pets/ good guidelines here
and if you want just contribute or to find an organization and click on a link below to a foster home!

Teach your dog to the destination

Learning to Target the Hand.
I love to teach my dogs to target.  This trick/skill is useful in many facets throughout my dog’s lives.  Targeting can also be built upon to teach other skills and more intricate skills, it is a building block to good obedience!
What You Will Need
Getting Started
I like teaching this command with very few distractions so find a secluded area.  At first I like to teach my dog to target or “touch” my hand.  Put treats in one hand or in a treat bag or your pocket  With the opposite hand, open it wide with your fingers to the side and put it in front of your dog’s face.  When your dog touches his nose to your hand or sniffs at your palm, click and treat.  Continue opening and closing your hand, click and treat when your dog makes contact with your hand.  Keep doing this until your dog knows what he has to do to get you to click, now you may add the command “Touch”.  Next hold your hand higher up, over to the left, the right or behind your back.  Your dog should follow your palm wherever it is and touch it with his nose on command.  If at first he has trouble understanding when you move your hand, go back a step and be patient.  Once your dog’s confidence is built and he understands the command you can have him repeat the behavior a few times before clicking and treating, then you can taper off the clicker.
Teaching Your Dog to Target Your Hand Can Help Him Gain Confidence and Approach Things in His Environment
This behavior can be used to help fearful dogs feel more confident in their environment, it also builds a foundation for retrieving, for  delivering items to a specific area, it can be used for a competition send away, and even in agility.
I have a nervous dog, who is often afraid of things that he does not recognize.  I can use the “touch” command and my hand to get him closer and closer to objects he would not normally approach.  When my hand is on the object it gives him confidence to approach it because he trusts me.  It is also an easy way to get his focus back on me when he is exhibiting apprehension!

Puppy crate training, Housebreaking puppies-effective for

The most important factor puppy and in dog training is to provide positive reinforcements as rewards and praises every time your pet is doing something correctly. For example, it is ideal for the puppy to bite on toys instead of the couch, or on the poop deck outside instead of in the House. More time with your dog puppy: or easier puppy and faster training for you.

Establishing a routine increases the risk that puppy is going in the right place in your presence. After that then reward and praise them is very important in House Education puppies. This reduces the chance of having your puppy doing his thing in the wrong place and also prevents bad habits.

It is also important that you prepare the conditions for your puppy when you aren't around. While your puppy is not yet trained, he or she will not be allowed to be free around the House. This can develop permanent leave puddles and piles anywhere and everywhere. Keep her in a small area such as kitchen, utility room or bathroom that is water resistant and has stain-resistant floors. This is not puppy crate training however.

crate training for puppies

One of the most effective and efficient way to house train a dog or puppy is crate training. Generally, puppies and dogs do not like to soil or messing around her sleeping and resting place when they should be able to go anywhere else. Limit the puppies to small places when the puppy needs to go, but crate training is of much greater importance.

In the crate, learn your puppy to withhold and poop or urinate only when she is released. You must understand the difference between the provisional confinement in a wooden crate against long-term isolation when you are not at home. While you are not limiting accidents at home to only a small area, the wooden crate confinement helps your puppy train to hold back from going to the bathroom during the period he or she is limited. Your puppy is released into an appropriate area, only then they will go.

Puppy crate training help puppies develop bowel and bladder control. Instead of doing so anytime they feel like it, train the puppies to rein in and let go at appropriate times. During crate training, it will be good if you have dailly times for your dog to go. If you have a regular watering schedule, your puppy will soon adopt a corresponding potty time. And as soon as you get familiar with the times in which they normally have to go, you can begin to take them only during the times then instead of walking up hourly. When they go, puppies have a free but supervised drive by your House.

Errors and accidents

Punishment is not encouraged in the event of an accident while puppy is in crate training. Just clean up the mess and raises an issue of it — you might have given her access to your House too early. You must hold your puppy to monitor when you're running around the House until she can be trusted to learn to hold back. Go back to your puppy  crate training, and if you can afford, you might just get her puppy education lessons.
